Lecture: Poland Debates The Holocaust
09 March 2010 Category: news

A free lecture by Prof Dariusz Stola, “Coming to Terms with the Holocaust: 25 years of Polish Debates”, will take place on March 23rd at 6.15pm at Newman House, 85 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin. The event has been organised by the UCD School of History and Archive in cooperation with the Polish embassy in Dublin.

Prof Stola is professor at the Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, fellow of the Institute of Political Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences and at the Centre for Migration Research at Warsaw University. He was a contributor to the distinguished 2004 essay collection The Neighbours Respond: The Controversy over the Jedwabne Massacre in Poland, which was written in reaction to the powerful but controversial exposure by Jan T Gross in his 2000 book Neighbours of the Polish role in the murder of a large number of Jews (the exact number is disputed) in the village of Jedwabne in northeastern Poland in 1941.
