I am so at home in Dublin, more than any other city, that I feel it has always been familiar to me. It took me years to see through its soft charm to its bitter prickly kernel - which I quite like too.

RESPOND
We welcome responses to our published material, either for publication or not. If intended for publication, they should preferably be brief – no longer than the normal letter to the editor in a newspaper. Please send by email to [email protected]

CONTRIBUTE
The drb is always open to accepting suitable material from new contributors. Remember that essays should normally be linked to a recently published (or to be published) book and should be written so as to appeal to an educated general, and not a specialised academic, readership. Please send a proposal of four or five hundred words in the first instance to [email protected]. The review publishes two distinct types of contribution: discursive essays which are hung on a new book but which may range more widely and informatively over a subject and its background; and shorter, more narrowly focused reviews of new titles. The former may be three thousand words or more; the latter should normally be between nine hundred and fifteen hundred words.
